Access By Water

Entrance to the lovely River Deben is over a well-marked bar, which is best undertaken on a rising tide, at least an hour and a half after low water depending on your boat's draft. Remember that the Deben bar changes frequently See Deben, Ore and Orwell page on this site for up to date information. The passage above Troublesome Reach is not possible at low water in anything other than a dinghy. Two bustling riverside pubs at Ramsholt and Waldringfield will be passed en-route. An enjoyable stopover can be had at either one.

Access By Road

Heading north on A12 from the Ipswich direction, turn right (seems like straight on) at the first roundabout signed 'Woodbridge - local traffic'. Continue on this road for approximately 1.2 miles, past the Notcutts garden centre. At the first set of pedestrian lights, turn right into Kingston Road and then fork left into The Avenue; on your left is a car park. The clubhouse will be found by walking over the level crossing, turning left when you reach the river, from which point it can be seen approximately 100 paces up river.
